Water Supply - Outlook, Characterization, and Shared Use

The May 2025 monthly Gallatin Water Collaborative discussion focused on water supply and availability. Topics discussed included snowpack and water supply forecasts, water supply and irrigation, and truths/myths about the physical and legal limits of local water. Presenters included Florence Miller (USDA-NRCS Montana Snow Survey Hydrologist), Justin Mohler (Mammoth Ditch Company Board Member and Former Ditch Rider), and Kerri Strasheim (DNRC).

Goals of this session:

  • Develop a better understanding of the physical and legal constraints of water availability as it moves through the Lower Gallatin Watershed so that all water users can more effectively share.
