About Us

The mission of the Gallatin Water Collaborative is to unify local efforts to protect, restore and enhance water resources in the Lower Gallatin Watershed.

Together we are:

  • Sharing concerns and priorities from many different water users across the watershed.

  • Working together to take action on shared priorities.

  • Sharing technical and financial resources across our organizations to achieve greater impact.

  • Incorporating the objectives of the Collaborative into the work of our individual organizations.

  • Advancing cross-jurisdictional water security planning and water management.

  • Coordinating our efforts to effectively make the best use of available funding opportunities.

How it Began

The Gallatin Water Collaborative began as an effort to update the Lower Gallatin Watershed Restoration Plan, with diverse input from stakeholders across the watershed. This plan had focused on stream and wetland restoration projects, but due to the unprecedented growth in the Gallatin Valley, it became evident that the scope of the plan needed to include more overarching considerations of water security, and all the tools from all of our toolboxes.

How We Work

Our Commitment
to Collaboration

Each stakeholder participates in the spirit of collaboration. We are here to find common ground and be more effective at reaching our shared goals. First and foremost, we each show up to build trust.

We have each committed to  participate consistently and as much as possible, respecting the time invested by others.

Each stakeholder represents and is communicating back to their individual constituents and organizations.
