The July 2026 Gallatin Water Collaborative meeting will focus on the definition and implementation of Controlled Groundwater Areas (CGWAs). Kerri Strasheim (MT Department of Natural Resources and Conservation) will present.

Meeting Goals:

  • Understand what a CGWA is and how they are established

  • Explore potential challenges or issues with implementing a CGWA in the Gallatin Watershed.

  • Discuss two examples of Montana CGWAs (Yellowstone and Horseshoe Hills)

  • Discuss recent Groundwater Assessment study
