Forest Health & Connections to Watershed Health

The August 2025 monthly Gallatin Water Collaborative meeting focused on the connections between forest health, wildfire risk, and watershed resilience. Presenters from the Forest Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Gallatin County Emergency Management, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and Grow Wild highlighted local projects, challenges, and collaborative strategies to reduce fuels, protect water quality, and support landowners in building fire-adapted communities.

Goals of this session: 

  • Establishing a connection between forest health and watershed health

  • Who is doing what with forest stewardship?

  • Are there gaps in forest stewardship?
